A Fall Guide to Skincare

​This year’s autumnal equinox is September 22nd, making this Thursday officially the first day of fall. And while autumn brings cooler weather and colorful changing leaves, it can also bring changes to our skin.

With cooler temperatures, outside air gets drier as moisture levels drop. As a result, our skin can start losing moisture, feel itchy or develop seasonal sensitivities.

Here are three simple skin care tweaks that can help to fortify skin against cooler, drier weather.

  1. Add a humidifier: Your skin is always exposed to the environment around you. It’s our immune system’s first line of defense and keeping a healthy skin barrier is vital to our health. So switch on your humidifier to restore moisture to the air in your home. This will help counteract the drying effects on the skin from indoor heaters and furnaces.
  2. Moisturizer lips & under eyes: Add a rich lip balm or moisturizer to the mix. Lips are especially sensitive to changes in temperature and can easily dry out.
